About A.A.C.T.

The Association of Analytical & Cognitive Therapists was borne out of the Association of Analytical Therapists, formed in 1992, and is comprised of a select group of psychotherapists, counsellors, hypno-analysts, psychoanalysts, hypnotherapist and alike including organisations of such repute as: Stress Management Counsellors Association (SMCA), Positive Thinking Counsellors and the International College of Eclectic Therapies Ltd Graduates (ICET).

The Association exists to promote and provide the highest professional standards in cognitive therapy. It enables prospective clients to have access to properly qualified therapists in their area, whilst at the same time enabling its members to have friendly, open two-way supportive communication with other like-minded professionals.

Being a member has many other benefits including invitations to attend group supervision, workshops, courses and seminars of interest. For more details of the benefits of being a member, please see the attached Benefits document.

Membership of the A.A.C.T. is open to those therapists who have completed approved courses of psychotherapy, analytical therapy, hypnotherapy or counselling, and who feel that both they and the Association will benefit from their membership.

A.A.C.T. members are bound by the rules of the Association, to observe their codes of ethical practice, and to display a current certificate of membership and insurance in their consulting room.

The following Terms and Conditions apply for any applicant seeking membership of the AACT. Please read carefully before applying for application form.

Membership is open to anyone who falls into the following categories: -

Analytical Hypnotherapist

Clinical Hypnotherapist

Counsellor

Counsellor (BAC)

BAPCP

CBT

TFT and EMDR Therapist

Gold Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

NLP Practitioner

Inner Child Counsellor

Positive Thinking Counsellor

Psychologist

Psychotherapist

Child Abuse Therapy (VCAT)

Stress Management Counsellor

Critical Incident Debriefing

•Student - currently training in any of the above areas.

•To gain membership of the Association the applicant must be covered by appropriate Professional/Indemnity insurance.

•Each applicant gaining Full Membership of the Association will be registered in one or more of the above fields of expertise according to their qualifications and memberships. Referrals made through the Association will be based upon this information. For example: a member registered Hypnotherapist, will receive referrals through the Association for anyone who is seeking help of this nature.

Full Membership will be offered to fully qualified therapists, Licentiate Membership to students currently undertaking training in any of the above-mentioned areas.

The annual fee is £60.00 per year, £50.00 if paying by Standing Order.
